The Founder

A Passion for Bourbon.
An Appreciation for the Ritual.

Ten years of curiosity, exploration, and one enduring obsession.

The Ritual Co. didn't start with a business plan. It started with a genuine curiosity about what makes a great bourbon and a decade-long obsession with the cocktail that showcases it best.

For more than ten years, founder Tim Chin has been exploring the world of American whiskey. Not chasing rare bottles or building a collection, just learning, tasting, and developing a deep appreciation for what makes each bourbon distinct. The grains. The barrels. The aging. The people behind it.

That curiosity has taken him throughout Kentucky bourbon country, visiting some of the industry's most storied distilleries:

Those visits weren't checkboxes. They were conversations, tastings, and chances to understand bourbon from the inside: the traditions, the craft, and the stories that make American whiskey unlike anything else in the world. Along the way, he has had the opportunity to speak with some of the legends behind the spirit, including Jimmy Russell, the iconic Master Distiller at Wild Turkey, and Steve Nally of Bardstown Bourbon Company.

Why the Old Fashioned?

Of all the ways to enjoy bourbon, the Old Fashioned has always been the most compelling.

It's deceptively simple. Spirit, sugar, bitters, water. Four ingredients that have produced more than two centuries of history, regional variation, and spirited debate.

He has spent years exploring what happens when you change one element: a different rye, a different bitters, a touch more dilution, a lemon peel instead of orange. Small decisions that completely transform what's in the glass. The Old Fashioned rewards curiosity in a way few cocktails do.

Closer to home, bourbon has always been something to share. For years, he and fellow enthusiasts in his family have hosted private tastings with friends, bringing together different bottles, comparing notes, and discovering what makes each expression unique. Those gatherings planted a seed that would eventually become The Ritual Co.

Why I Created The Ritual Co.

The more I explored the Old Fashioned, its history, its variations, the bourbon behind it, the more I realized how much story lived inside that simple glass.

Most people order an Old Fashioned without knowing where it came from, why rye was the original spirit of choice, or how the drink changed dramatically over the decades. That history is genuinely fascinating. And it makes the drink taste better when you understand it.

The Ritual Co. is the experience I always wanted to share: a guided journey through the history and craft of the Old Fashioned, designed for people who appreciate a great evening and want to come away knowing something real about what's in their glass.

Not a cocktail class. Not a tasting menu.

Because bourbon isn't just another beverage pulled from a shelf, and the Old Fashioned isn't just another cocktail. There are people, places, traditions, and stories behind them.

That's what makes it a ritual.
